As study after study reveals, a healthy weight contributes to better success when trying to conceive. Being over weight or under weight can affect a couple’s ability to get pregnant. With that in mind, NCCRM is delighted to welcome the newest member to our team, Maria Kennedy.
Maria completed her undergraduate degree in Food Science with a minor in nutrition in 1993 and completed her Master of Public Health – Nutrition Degree from the UNC School of Global Public Health in 2012. Maria is a Registered Dietitian and is a Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist. She has a strong passion for helping others learn about disease prevention through nutrition & wellness. Maria is also very interested in women’s health, prenatal nutrition and diabetes management. She has served as a volunteer in Food and Nutrition Services since 2009 at Rex Hospital and completed her dietetic internship at UNC Hospital in the fall of 2012. During her time at UNC she composed the nutrition care protocol for the outpatient high risk obstetrical clinic at UNC Hospital and wrote her Master’s thesis “Nutrition Care Protocol for Women Diagnosed with Diabetes During Pregnancy”. On a personal note Maria has two children and has worked very hard to reach and maintain a healthy weight.
In addition to Maria’s exemplary credentials in nutrition, her personal weight loss story is an impressive one. Just take a look at Maria’s before and after photos.
